Who are YOU there for? Stop. Right now. And consider that as you lead your life, pursue your goals and design your dreams it is not all about you. More than what you do or who you are, it is how you relate to others that really matters.
I choose to believe we are all connected. I choose to believe we are here to be of service. I choose to believe that the way to build a meaningful legacy is to make a difference in the lives of others. What do you choose?
Sometimes the effect we have out in the world is deep but unseen. Other times, we receive acknowledgment for our actions, which allows us to experience the gratitude that supporting, helping and contributing to others gives us. It is important to remember our actions and words have an impact and to take responsibility for them.
There is nothing wrong with having our own dreams, goals and desires. Being there for others doesn’t mean living a bankrupt life. It doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy nice things and treat yourself well. It is about becoming more aware and conscious about who you are there for and how you show up in the lives of others.
In turn, it is also good to know who is there for you. It’s not about keeping score. Not everyone you help will turn around and support you when you need it. But know who you can call or email when you need some inspiration, guidance or a resource. This can help you remain in action when you’re at a critical point.
The larger your vision for your life, the greater your need to enroll others in supporting you to make it happen. And in return, when you live life large, those around you will be inspired to do the same. Everybody wins. When you interact consciously and become present to who you are there for you begin to weave the story of a life that matters…at least that’s what I choose to believe.
