I would wish for everyone to know peace in their lives. To find it somewhere…in their mind, thoughts, in their body, in a safe harbor in the storm, in our relationships with those who love us and those who we love.
When we act, speak and think from a peaceful place we honor ourselves and others. It reduces our stress levels and changes the energy around us and in the world. During times of challenge, when we feel afraid or the future seems uncertain, the place we are most likely to be able to find the inspiration to breathe, to make a plan and identify the resources and support we need begins from finding peace.
It’s not always easy to choose to first go to peace and ease instead of fear and stress. Sometimes we may not be able to get there on our own. But if you can recognize where you are and what you’re experiencing, you can ask yourself “what do I need right now?” Most often what we need to know is that we are safe. While circumstances may have our normal sense of safety feel compromised, we do have a say in what comes next.
1. Honor your feelings.
2. Ask yourself what you need right now to move from stress to feeling safe and supported.
3. Ask if this is something you can provide to you or if you need to reach out for support.
4. Take an action you know gives you a feeling of peace. It could be meditating, yoga, walking your dog, playing with your child, dancing…and do it. Motion, even simply yoga breathing, creates movement. Movement inspires change.
You will need to design your own plan for peace, one that is unique to what resonates with your inner experience of life. In the end, peace begins with you.
